ADSR

ADSR envelope generator — a gate-triggered modulation SOURCE. Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release shape a 0..1 control signal. Toggle Gate on for note-on (attack → decay → sustain), off for note-off (release). Wire its output into a Gain's gain — set that Gain to 0 and the envelope opens it (a VCA: osc → gain → out) — for an amplitude envelope, or into a filter's cutoff for a filter envelope. Melody-owned (adsr-rt), re-derived from automation/modulation.
